Iguanna; you are out of touch, most Turks and Caicos Islanders the silent majority despise this move by the Brits.

mark my words there will be a back lash and it is not going to be pleasant Grace Bay Boys.

Thanks everyone. I will have to believe, that there are other outstanding citizens of Turks & Caicos, who could have replaced the former Premier, Mr. Misick? And the sacked cabinet and equally sacked parliament.

This is a power grab and a land grab by the UK and their proteges in Turks & Caicos!

Why else did the UK not call for early elections or elicit a caretaker government? And did the UK just suffer from endless scandals herself? Allowances and double-dipping members of parliament... was just in the news!

We ought to be looking at the big picture and the long term damage done to democracy by this arbitrary clampdown by the UK against Turks & Caicos. I foresee wide ramifications stemming from this unbridled empire expansion by the UK, even in the 21st century!

AND, I have to wonder if Russia was clamping down on Turks & Caicos, a few hundred miles from the USA, what would the USA do? Or how would the USA have reacted and why is the USA quiet about the UK power grab in Turks & Caicos?

This should be seen as a rape of democracy and continued oppression of Africans and peoples of African descent. I resent oppression, colonialism, usurpation and imperialism.

I live in the Turks and Caicos Islands!!!!! We are very thankful for the Protection offered by The UK from the poor and dishonest "non-governing" from the PAST GOVERNMENT!!!

If Great Britian had not SAVED us, we would have been slaves to a thoughtless dictator!

Any right thinking person should be ashamed to support this rape of democracy by the Government of the UK.

In case you dont know, democracy is a journey not a destination, that is why even in the great USA they always say that the strive to make " a more perfect union", even though they have been at it for near 250 years. The UK themselves have been at it since 1066, and they still do have problems from time to time.

No matter what happens, people will be people, and from time to time democracy will hit a bump in the road, what must happen in Turks and Caicos when that happens is that we must be given a chance to fix it ourselves, and no one can doubt that the elected administration was begining to do that - fix it.

If the UK wanted to help, they would have allowed us to have elections. There is NOT EVER any substitute for democracy.

This move by the UK is not helpfull.

Not only do the Grace Bay Boys now have the economic power, but they now have the political power, and things will never be the same for the average black Turks and Caicos Islander. All they ever had was the political power now that too has been stolen from all of us.

We have to now begin our expiriment with democracy all over again and will perhaps make many of the same pit falls again too.

It is unthinkable that a person in this day and age can disagree with democracy, that they can disagree with basic freedoms like the right to trial by jury. WOW!!!!!

At least get your facts right. There is no 'Prime Minister' in the TCI and never has been, the position is the Premier. Also Michael Misick resigned from that post in March!

The Premier who has just lost his position is Galmore 'Gilly' Williams.

Clearly you have much to learn about the TCI - everyone including you is entitled to their opinion, but if you are going to put yours in print perhaps delve a little deeper (including speaking to the islanders here, the majority of whom are relieved that the British are finally helping them).

Or employ a researcher....

I'm happy if the British do a good job. They have historically been better than most at running things. There are many worse things than being governed!

So many people will benefit in my opinion. Just think what should happen if a city in Nigeria started acting up? Should Nigeria correct it?

Unless you know Turks and Caicos, you don't know how that one man can cause trashy attitudes be spread to the whole country.
