Africa's history is one of exchanging precious goods for trinkets eg when the Portugese arrived they sought slaves, gold, timber, ivory in exchange for cloth, amulets and guns. Today things have not changed much Africa is still shipping out its best minds, gold, platinum, oil, timber, uranium and receiving in return ; paper money, cars, guns (lots of them) and the end results of knowledge. ie manufactured goods. I once read somewhere that the Western plot was to holf onto Africa for 200 years after the end of slavery,, this is sufficient time to rape , pillage and decimate the landscape of any resources that Africa can use to build itself. Luckily more resources are being found than is being removed. And in one sense Thank God for Slavery that there exist a large Diasporan African community to impede the wanton destruction of African civilization.
