Nigeria is still a colonial country governed by Neo- Colonialists, the PDP. This is why power is still retained at the Federal level! It is a failing state because it has not achieved any milestones since Independence in 1960. It involves itself in rhetoric instead of building a nation.
Nigeria is a country with different countries contained within, formed by the British colonial masters cartographers.
How could you develop a nation without adequate energy supply? It has divided the nation by building ultra modern development in the North ( Abuja) with money from the Niger Delta while at the same time, the peoples of that area suffer from abject poverty!
Serfdom, which has long been abolished during the emancipation of the masses, has now been reintroduced into Nigeria! You have the ruling class (Kings and Queens), (Land Owners) as represented by the politicians and the masses, as represented by the rest of the population.
In Europe, there were many strikes, riots and uprising before the masses were able to free themselves copying the slave rebellions in Haiti and the West Indies!
The time has now come for the masses in Nigeria to copy these historic happenings because this is why we study history; to learn from the past and to shape the future, as much as our destiny would allow. We witnessed the people’s revolutions in the USSR, Cuba, China, and Vietnam. These were uprising by the masses and that is why it is important for change to be people led, such as the Cultural Revolution in China and Romania.
At this present time, only some people in the Niger Delta are rebelling as the other peoples in Nigeria have left them to fight alone. To achieve any change, you must all stand together and fight the enemy, the Neo-Colonialist Federal Government in Abuja and remove any State Senator and Governors that support the neo-colonialist oppressors!
You are treated the way you are because the system is still based on the old feudal method where the land users (you the masses) are paid by the landowners (the Federal Government) to farm the land. Those are times gone by and was recognised by many hence discontinued with the exception of the British, our former colonial masters.
FINANCE
The States should raise their own taxes and also help the federal government in raising its own taxes. The federal taxes raised in the states are then sent to the Central Banks for the Federal Government instead of the other way round where the States depends on handouts from the Federal Government!
The taxes collected by the Federal Government will be used for defence, salaries of the lawmakers and Foreign Service. The States will be responsible for everything else through the taxes they have been able to raise from the working masses and through borrowings from the Central Bank.
There will never be any foreign borrowings as any foreign currency requirements will be raised from asset sales, such as gold, oil, cocoa, palm kennel, and mineral resources. Every State will own any resources on its boundary and gone are the days when State asset will belong to the nation.
During the time of self-government, State asset belonged to the States. It was only after the discovery of oil that this practice changed; this is not right and stops individual States prospecting for its own oil. If cocoa in the West is not a national asset, why should oil in the Niger Delta be a national asset? Is it because we want to be part of this global market that oil is a national asset?
GLOBAL MARKET
Again, we have been deluded by terminology! Global market is not for Nigeria because what else have we got to export right now apart form barrels of oil while on the other hand, the west sells everything in Nigeria and Africa! They even told our governments to stop the subsidies to allocate our farmers while they subsidise their farmers to make there produces cheaper than home grown ones,; what hypocrisy and our supposedly leaders accept such arrangements!
They flood our countries with their motor vehicles and other manufactured products in the name of global trade while they bar some of our goods by terming them inferior or have not passed their safety standards, especially our pharmaceuticals products. They have even prevented our countries buying locally manufactured medications with the foreign aid allocated to us by specifying it must be spent with the donor countries since our locally manufactured medication have not had approval from the federal drug agencies.
Can you believe the way these people are treating us and getting away with it because our neo-colonial masters allow them to! These are the issues you must all worry about if you want change in Nigeria. I can say I am ok because I do not live in Nigeria and made a comfortable life for myself in the west after thirty odd years out of the country.
I was so disappointed the last time I went home hence, I have not returned for many years because I was so ashamed of what we have not been able to accomplish since Independence while countries like United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, South Korea, and China have accomplished so much without the same monetary asset at our disposal since the advent of oil export!
GET UP AND STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS
The time has now come to leave all the talking behind and start some practical action of civil disobedience. These must not be violent protests in order not to give the army any idea of taking over power in another coup! It must not be down to one State but must involve as many States as possible. Must be co-ordinated in daily and weekly actions across the country such as closing down the Airports, administrative centres such as the Courts in the States and federal capital.
Use the taxis to block the roads and stop traffics to a standstill and make sure they demand for change, an immediate change of transfer of power to the States and from States to the Local Authorities which would give us the democracy claim to have but have not got; Government Of The People, By The People and For The People!
Long live Nigeria as ONE but we must take power away from the Neo- colonialists Federal Government the same way our Nationalists forbearers took power from the British Colonial masters.
