Once I was driving along a narrow road, and I watched how a driver was closed to being crushed by an oncoming trailer because of his impatience and bad road. Then I realized that it was not only the elephants and crocodiles talked about on national geography channel that were endangered but also humans and in this particular piece Nigeria. That was not all for I was to receive confirmation of my hypothesis some weeks later.
Some where in the FCT on the public road between the CBN and the Ecumenical Christian centre, usually becomes a stage for the reenactment of Nigeria’s version of the fast and furious. Young boys believed to be sons of top men come around to display ensuring they burst at least four tires, and not seldom do innocent people, pedestrians and drivers go home injured. But then its fun for the poor ignorant to be entertained by the affluent, bursting tax payers money in the air.
These events were not the only things led my asking the questions.
The geographical expression we call Nigeria is close to being extinct as a research in one of the world's great nations says that "by 2015 the country will cease to exist". Well at first I simply asked “wetin concern this oyinbo people sef, wetin be their own with my beloved giant of Africa”. But in truth, are we really stable? Are we heading towards a dream, are we a nation? with the way we are going do we hope to survive beyond 2015?
