The great President (Dr GoodLuck Jonathan Ebele Azikwe) of our great country Nigeria, please be aware that as the President of this great nation, Nigeria, you are our (Nigerians) eyes to see opportunities, mouths to speak justice (Leverage) and also our legs to walk into our promise land (Piggyback). May God help you, Amen

Good news! The dream of assembly or production of new SUV in Nigeria is a welcome development. I can only hope that Toyota and Honda both plan to produce one or more brands here in Nigeria too.

However, I like to reflect if only to allow history to be my guide. In the 1970s and 1980s, there were so many vehicle assembly plants in Nigeria: Peugeot assembly plant in Kaduna, Volkswagen assembly plant in Lagos, Leyland assembly plant in Ibadan, Mercedes assembly plant in Enugu, Styre assembly plant in Bauchi and Fait assmebly plant in Kano. What killed them or why are they dysfunctional? The new automobile (automotive) policy has not addressed this issue.

Will the good news of today not become our nightmare tomorrow? There are many things to address here. I hope to find time to lay out the many ignored aspects of this new arrangement. God save Nigeria.
