Residents of Adamawa state are reported to be carrying pieces of charcoal in their pockets as protection against theft of their private parts.
A growing number of people report that they have lost their genitals after body contact with strangers. However, a doctor who examined one of the alleged victims, said, "I examined them and their organs were normal. It is just a psychological problem."
However, a number of people are currently in police custody after they were attacked by a mob who accussed them of being part of a gang that robs people of their private parts.
One of them who was chained to his hospital bed by the police said "I came to deliver a message when somebody I did not even talk to shouted and pointed at me,and said that I stole his private parts and instantly, a mob attacked me. I am innocent. Please help me,"
