Our job is to ensure that there is power supply every day - Minister of Power
| August 25, 2009
The Minister of Power, Mr. Lanre Babalola, has maintained that the Federal Government should still achieve the goal of 6,000 megawatts power supply by December 31, 2009.

At a capacity building workshop for agencies under the Ministry of Power he said, “Our job is to ensure that there is power supply every day and not just wait till December 31 to give Nigerians improved power. The December target, however, is still very valid, but we are more interested in giving power everyday and all our efforts are geared towards that objective.”

“Government is working very hard to address the issue of gas supply, especially for power projects. We have seen some improvements of late, but we expect to have more improvements in gas supply in the coming months to enable us meet the target.”

“There were lapses that needed to be looked into and corrected. It is important to plan properly for something; to make sure that you are doing the right thing. There is also need for transparency and value for money in the process of public contracting in the power sector.

“If you don’t plan properly for a project and you go out to ask for money that is not right. There is need to always do the right thing by abiding with procurement laws, and helping the government to achieve efficiency and budgetary discipline in the power sector,”

“We are working very hard to ensure that we achieve our objectives with regards to improving power generation in the country and I have no reason to doubt the commitment of the various stakeholders gathered here to engage in the process and work out better and more efficient ways to handle procurement issue for the sector,”

mr minister of power, as long as your govt. lets the manufacturers keep dumping all kinds of generators of all sizes, shapes and junks, supported by miscreants who are sellers of the products, bribing to sabotage power, your talk of regular and stable power supply is a farce.

break the autonomy of power by letting every state generate their power and see if there will be stable power supply. you all know what to do but dont want to do it.

Let me tell you , every day is for the thief BUT......one fine day is for the owner of the things been stolen. So you all keep stealing...........one fine day will be a day of accountability. America like other developed countries are trying very hard to minimise use of petrol, building fuel efficient cars, cars that will go as much as 230 mile per gallon.

what do you all think will happen to the price of crude gallon of petoleum? i guess you and your dumb president will be made to drink you crude oil. the saying goes as make hay while the sun shines, instead you all are busy stealing while the sun is shining.

Could this just be another lips service by the minister, meanwhile we are here to remind him if this empty promises as usual never comes to materialise.

However the election is still in the next two years so this could not be considered as canvassing for votes.
