U.S justice of the peace refuses to issue a marriage license to a black/white couple
| October 16, 2009
A justice of the peace of Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana has refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple. The justice declined to speak on camera but spoke by phone saying, "I stand by my decision, and it is my right not to marry an interracial couple. It's wrong," He said that he was concerned about the children who might be born in the relationship and that, in his experience, most interracial marriages don't last. He said "I'm not a racist, I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house. My main concern is for the children." Tangipahoa Parish is about 70 percent white and 30 percent black. The president of the NAACP branch of Tangipahoa Parish is calling for him to resign saying "He's an elected public official and one of his duties is to marry people. He doesn't have the right to say he doesn't believe in it. If he doesn't do what his position calls for him to do, he should resign from that position."

J.P, u shouldn't have been appointed for such role. You're supposed to be a Justice of Peace and not war. How can you indirectly encourage racisim?! You're supposed to unite a man and a woman, irrespective of race not divide them!

That's none of his Freakin business !! Who the hell does he think he is. He doesn't have the right to refuse anyone from getting married. Race has very little to do with the "make or break" of marriage.

GET A LIFE J.P. !!!!!!
