Former Super Eagles' player, Uche Okafor, did not kill himself - Family
| January 10, 2011
Contrary to reports that Uche Okafor, a former Super Eagles' defender who played in two Nigerian World Cup teams and played for the Kansas City Wizards in the U.S., committed suicide this week at his home in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, his family has stressed that he did not commit suicide and that there is more to his death than meets the eyes.

In a conversation with Sun newspapers, a family spokesman said, “We are disappointed with the stories being circulated on the internet,” Nwaokoro, in a telephone conversation, said from the United States (US). “There is no iota of truth in any of the stories that Uche died by hanging. This is because the Uche we all knew could not kill himself. We shall get to the roots of the matter.

The autopsy report will reveal he truth of how Uche really died to the whole world. Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing. For now, we are still in a deep shock over his strange death and we are not going to make any further comment until the autopsy report is made available to us very soon,”

Uche Okafor's body was discovered last week afternoon by his wife in their house and the Medical Examiner's Office said that he hanged himself in an upstairs hallway. He was aged 43.

The Uche family should ensure that a comprehensive investigation is carried out to support their claim that he (Uche Okafor) did not kill himself as speculated on internet and other media channels. Because it is highly primitive to hear that such an asset died, taking his own dear life. What could be responsible?

However, it is my earnest prayer that God gives the entire Uche family the furtitude to bear the huge loss.

Let the family try their best to let the public know the truth.
