The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the upgrade of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, to a degree awarding institution.
At an event top mark the occassion, the executive secretary of the NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie, tasked the leadership of the Polica academy to ensure that the high quailty standards are maintained. He called for policemen seeking admission to the academy to sit for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) examinations since the academy is now a degree awarding institution. He added, “This will ensure that proficiency is nurtured to help management structure.”
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Capt Caleb Olubolade (rtd.), said, “The police force now requires an institution that is service oriented especially now that our state of insecurity calls for dedicated training and capacity building.”
The upgrade of the Nigeria Police Academy to a degree awarding institution brings the total number of universities in Nigeria to 124.

It is a good development. But I want to know if the serving member of the Nigeria Police Force are eligible for admission?

I am very glad that our tertiary institution added to their number but the F G should ensure that U N standard of training is to be given to the students in all field of studies and they should concentrate in given qualitative service to the students. I pray the institution will be in an hierachy with O A U, U I and Oxford university e t c . God bless Nigeria.
