School principal in Ogun state suspended for allegedly performing virginity tests on students
| December 20, 2012
The Principal of Ajuwon Senior High School, Ajuwon in Ogun state has been suspended over allegations that she performed virginity tests on some students of the school. Punch newspapers earlier this week had reported that the principal invited a nurse to the school to perform virginity tests on some students, without the consent of their parents. When news of the test got out. angry parents rushed to the school to demand explanations and police had to be called to calm the situation. After the report in the newspaper, the principal was invited to the Ogun state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for questioning then she was suspended pending further investigation. Reports say that the pricipal denied performing the test and said that she had only tried to frighten the students when she mentioned the virginity test. Also the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology said that a five-man committee comprising officials of the Ministry of Education and the state Teaching Service Commission has been set up to investigate the case. The panel has 14 days to submit its report. In a statement, the commissionerr also said, “We equally believe in the need to maintain discipline in our schools and to follow due process in the handling of this particular case. “We appeal to the parents of the students involved to be patient and allow us to handle the case as dictated by the law of the land and service rules.”

Say, the girls come before the all male panel and what would the question be? Shame on the one that set up that panel. Mix it up and wise up people.
