Nigeria Football Federation sacks Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi and will look for a foreign coach as a replacement
| October 16, 2014
In a statement released after an Executive Committee meeting of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, held after the Nigeria vs. Sudan match in Abuja, the coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles football team, Coach Stephen Keshi. has been relieved of his duties. The Executive Committee said that in the interest of Nigerian football and the desire to ensure that Nigeria qualifies for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals, it has decided to relieve Keshi and his assistants Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmu of their jobs . The NFF said Shuaibu Amadu, the Head of the NFF technical committee will lead a consortium of coaches in the remaining matches of the Eagles in the African Nations Cup Qualifiers, while the federation hunts for a foreign coach for the Super Eagles. The NFF praised the excellent contributions of the technical crew which had been led by Keshi for their achievments in the past three years. The statement also said, âIn recognition of their contributions to the Nigeria game, the Executive Committee also approved that the trio of Keshi, Amokachi and Shorounmu should proceed to any coaching course of their choice in any country of their choice to build their capacity, at the expense of the NFF. All their entitlements will be paid within the next fortnight.â
