14 things to know about Jimi Agbaje, the PDP candidate in the 2015 gubernatorial elections in Lagos state

  1. Jimi Agbaje was born March 2, 1957
  2. He attended St. Gregory's College in Lagos and graduated in pharmaceutical studies from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife).
  3. He is married to Abiola Agbaje (née Bankole), a lawyer. The couple met as students at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University and dated for eight years before getting married. They have three children.
  4. He is the Managing Director of Jaykay Pharmaceutical & Chemical Company Ltd.
  5. He is a Director of Vigeo Holdings Limited.
  6. From 1994 to 1997, he served as Chairman of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Lagos State).
  7. He also was Chairman of 1994 National Conference Planning committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
  8. He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN) and the West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists (FPCPharm). He is also a Merit Award Winner (MAW) of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (Lagos State).
  9. Since 2000, he served as National Treasurer of Afenifere. He was also active with the Alliance for Democracy (AD), the predecessor of the Action Congress (AC) political party.
  10. He sits on the Board of: Oakwood Park Ltd ; Atlantic Hall Secondary School Epe; Jimi Agbaje Outreach (a project dedicated to helping the less fortunate) and has served as business mentor at Fate Foundation.
  11. He was a member of the Lagos State Task force on Fake and Adulterated Drugs (1989 – 1993)
  12. He was among the 11 governorship aspirants that turned their back on the Action Congress (AC), in 2007, when it was alleged that Governor Bola Tinubu had already anointed someone else to succeed him even before the party primaries were held.
  13. He joined the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in 2011, following the de-registration of DPA by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
  14. On 8, December 2014, he emerged as the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP for the 2015 Lagos State gubernatorial election, after defeating Musiliu Obanikoro in the PDP primaries.
