I thought the British were the most polite.
I have since realised the errors of my thinking. Yorubas' are tops in politeness. Check this out.
I was visiting my freind Sule when his uncle appeared. He dived to the ground and I promptly followed.
"Is he armed?" I asked. "No, we Do'bale1/ in respect" said Sule.
The uncle then released a serious fart and Sule greeted him "E ro ra sir"2/.
Uncle took charge of the remote control much to my annoyance but Sule said "Eku iworan sir" 3/.
Just as I thought of going to the loo uncle shouted "where is your toilet in this house?" He stood, farted and Sule said "Eku Duro sir" 4/.
He then trod on my feet with his Bata that harboured nails underneath without an apology.
Sule said "E wo le sir".5/
I hour later Sule knocked the toilet door on my behalf. "Who is that" he shouted. Sule said "Eku iyagbe sir". 6/
Uncle came out and Sule's wife said "Eku ise o !" 7/
The smell almost blew me away.
Back in the sitting room, Uncle was stuffing Amala and Ewedu noisely. "Eku ina wo"8/ he greeted his hosts.
He then stood to undo the string of his sokoto for better stomach expansion and of course farted. "Eku dide sir" 9/ Said Sule
"At this stage I had had enough so I dived on the carpet to say bye to uncle and left. But not before I greeted uncle "Eku joko o!" 10/
