Trust
By: Babawilly
- I trusted the beaches
to give me pleasure
The sea over stepped it's boundaries
and flooded the city.
- I trusted the land
my feet and house stood on
That trust was discarded
When the great earthquake came.
- I trusted my father
to show me the way
But like all men he was flawed
and is now dead and buried
- I trusted in love
She was young and pretty
But she left for a man
Whom she trusted much more.
- I trusted in money
Saved all in a bank
But my treasure got devalued
For the 'good of the nation'
- So I trusted in goverment
and the great Head of state
But then woke up to news
He had been assasinated
- I trusted in world peace
and the brotherhood of man
Till my country was invaded
and no one blinked an eye
- I trusted in music
and the joy it could bring
Till my hereos like flies
droped dead one by one
- I tried a few tablets
To ease off my pain
But the side effects smote me
Again and again
- So I trusted in God
For there was nothing else
Then came a still voice
'Can I trust you my son'
