Few of us love to listen but we love talking or acting, hardly ever listening.
The key to life however, is actually in listening. Not just hearing, but listening.
Listening to the unspoken words, listening to the things that others would have overlooked.
So long as you have ears, you can hear. But it takes far more than ears to be able to listen. It takes a great mind and a good heart to be able to listen.
No matter how good your ears are, if you don't have a great mind (not as in intelligence but wisdom) and a good heart, you will never be able to listen or understand. You'll never be able to hear those words that are left unspoken, those words that the heart is screaming out to you.
If you don't know how to listen, you'll never be able to learn in life because life doesn't speak to you with a mouth, but it does speak. And the only way you can ever hear what it has to say is by listening.
For example your environment speaks to you (that's why you're able to know when it's about to rain). But it's not like it talks to us with a mouth. Yet, it speaks to us. And over the years we've learnt how to listen to it, so that we know how to plan our day properly.
If we were using just our ears to listen we probably would never understand occurences like the weather.
A simple analogy which serves to remind us that we need to learn to listen so as to be able to understand life. We can only live well in life if we understand it!
