Forgiveness

We often read or remember the passage where Christ said we must forgive an individual 70 X 70 times. We agree with that statement, and we quote it but we never really obey it.

Christ never said forgive only sins we can bear rather all sins. But, we never really do forgive. We have all heard that "to err is human but to forgive divine". Do we ever really pay attention to this wisdom?

To err really is human and that's why every single human being on earth has erred at one time or the other.

No one can ever claim to be flawless, absolutely no one! And very few of us actually forgive. But, when we err we expect to be forgiven! Truth is, it's hard to forgive. It seems that at times like these, we all conveniently forget the section of the Lord's prayer that reads 'forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us'.

It doesn't matter what has been done to us, i.e. how bad we've been hurt or sinned against, we have committed ourselves to forgiving everyone and every sin provided we want forgiveness from the ALMIGHTY.

We commit ourselves anytime we say the Lord's Prayer and so if we don't forgive others their trespasses against us then we should never expect to be forgiven for our sins or offences. It's as simple as that. Besides, there's a kind of freedom, a kind of happy feeling one gets by simply forgiving others.

It's true it's not easy and it takes a lot out of you but in the end it is worth it!

Being able to forgive, makes us better people and builds us, it makes us stronger.

We should always forgive, because, this simple act shows we have God in us. And the blessings we receive at the end cannot be quantified.

If we don't forgive then we can be assured of not receiving any forgiveness and mercy from The Lord.

As a reminder, another passage reads something like this: Whatever we sow, we must reap!
