Open Letter to Gov. Lucky Igbinedion
By Dr. Efe Igbinosa

January 13, 2003

Dear Gov. Igbinedion,

I wish to bring to your attention, the disturbing news making rounds in the news media and public domain. Your claims to have a BBA degree form University of Wyoming an MBA degree form Jackson State University are alleged not to be accurate.

I understand you presented a primary 6 certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission. It is your constitutional right to meet the requirements, in this case, which is primary 6 certificate as stipulated by the 1999 constitution.

However, since you have done the National Youth Service and obtained your "MBA" degree in 1984 from Jackson State University, I am puzzled as to why you would submit a primary 6 certificate to INEC. I want to point out the implications of your said action to you. If it is true that the qualifications you claim to have are not accurate, you run the risk of being prosecuted for fraud and theft.

A possible jail term for falsification of certificates. Salisu Buhari the disgraced Speaker of the National Assembly is a reminder.

From my investigations, there is no record of your attendance or any qualifications from Stevensons College in Scotland 1978. Without this qualification, I do not know how you could have gained admission into university.

More worrisome is your omission of Edo College from your CV, there seem to be a deliberate 2year gap at every institution attended by you from 1970 - 1984 as recorded in your CV both in Who is Who (Newswatch) and the US State Department.

This is a very serious allegation that is capable of bringing Edo people into disrepute. As a concerned Edo citizen, I would be grateful if you please clarify the true position of your qualifications.

Dr. Efe Igbinosa
Co-ordinator Good Government for Edo State
