The world has seen great soccer lords who brilliantly captained their teams and enjoyed many outings of marvelous victories.
For many year, Edson Arantes Do Nascimento, otherwise known as Pele, led Brazil to rule the world in soccer.
Kevin Keegan was a captain every good player loved to team up with. His process brought England to soccer lime light.
Armando Diego Maradona ruled the Argentina soccer world and was practically a colossus, bestriding the wider world of football, when he moved the black band for Argentina.
Michel Platini, the darling maestro of French football, and a host of other names were all at one time or another the stars and winning captains of their teams.
These men were winners in their own right and the world stood up to acknowledge their mastery and excellence in their different eras. The media ran after them and celebrated their prowess. Their postures were the delight of camera men and calendars spoke volumes of their exploits.
If you are a footballer or football enthusiast you would perhaps have loved to be on the
team with Pele, Kevin or Maradona or given them support. Great captain they all were, while they held sway. The world still cherishes the memories of their dazzling moments. But today it is different.
They no longer captain a team and will, most likely, never do so, the glorious days of ovation and emotional clap - trap are certainly over. Life is such a poor transient player.
Where is Portugal's Eusebio? Where is England's legendary Stanley Mathews? Yes, they could kick with great agility. They knew the ropes of their game so well but as men, age has caught up with them and taken its toll on both their physical energies and mental capacity. There are limits set to what any human being can do in time or over time.
No one can trespass the limits of mental grandeur. Unfortunately men fail to realize or show to learn that "----- the things which are seen are temporal ------" There is nothing ever - winning on earth. The success of man in any endeavour, be it academics, sports or any other career, will not last. The best of men also will not be forever. Death must come someday.
But there is one that abides forever. He alone is an all - winning captain all the time. His name is Jesus. His victories are not conditioned by time or age "He is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrew 13.8). He came to save the world from sin.
If you join His team, you become an automatic winner. As long as you are in His team, you do not stop playing and you do not stop winning.
He is greater than any mortal man. If you love the unbeatable winner, then I invite you to join Jesus' team. You will never be a loser, neither in this world nor in the world to come. "We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us" (Roman 8:37). "Thanks be to God which quiet us the victory through our lord Jesus Christ" "Who is he that over cometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the son of God"
Friend, do you want to be a conqueror over sin? Thus, turn your life over to Jesus. Do you want to be victorious over sickness? Open up your heart for Jesus to come in. Do you want to over come Satan and his wiles? Allow Jesus to sit on the throne of your life.
Have you thought about the credentials of Jesus who cleanses leprosy with only a touch? (Mark 1:41-42) It is Jesus!
Who has power to forgive sins and heal immediately? (Mark 2:5,10-12) It's Jesus!
Who has authority to silence a great storm of wind? (Mark 4:39) It's Jesus
Who stopped the fountain of the issue of blood (Mark 5:29) Jesus!
Who has power to send thousands of demons packing? Who has power to bring the dead
to life again? (Mark 5:41,42) It's Jesus!
What He did before, he is doing today. He will also do the same for you now if you can put your trust in Him. Jesus says: "I am the bread of life: He that cometh to me shall never
hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst" John 6:35.
Dear Reader, would you like to partake of the life of Jesus? I believe you would. Who doesn't like to be in league with a winner? Jesus is the captain for salvation (Hebrews 2:10).
He is the constant winner who never loses a battle. You will therefore come into covenant with Him.
How do you do this?
- You will first relinquish self - management of your life (Psalm 51:175).
- You will then release your total life into the hands of Jesus. 'From now on not my will but they will be done in my life' that should be your language (Psalm 51:17)
- You will now release by faith the world of salvation 'I confess Jesus as my Lord and I believe in my heart that God hath raised Him from the dead' (Romans 10:9)
- You now receive Him into your heart by faith.
