President Olusegun Obasanjo,
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso-Rock Presidential Villa,
Abuja.

Sir, name the new national stadium in Abuja in memory of Chief Abiola.

May I humble suggest that you consider naming the new national stadium in Abuja after “a martyr of Nigeria's Democracy”, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

Chief Abiola contributed immensely to the progress and development of Nigeria in many fields including politics, business and religion. 'Though tribe and tongue may differ', he enjoyed tremendous support all over Nigeria; a feat that is uncommon in our nation.

Chief Abiola's political life especially the unfortunate annulment of the ‘June 12, 1993 Presidential Election’, and his subsequent death in prison are symbols of the growing pains of Nigeria's young democracy. Chief Abiola laid down his life for the glory of his nation.

Sir, since you attended the same high school as Chief Abiola (Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta), you’ve probably known him much longer than majority of Nigerians… And I pray that you agree to name the Stadium in his memory.

Naming the National Stadium in memory of Chief MKO Abiola is the right thing to do, and I believe that majority of Nigerians will agree with this suggestion.

M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium, Abuja; God-willing!

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Warmest Regards,

(signed)
Dr. Toks Owoeye.
(Oke-eshe St, Ibokun, Osun State).
