    Farewell To Daddy Kuti

Submitted By: John "The Beloved" Ajewole

    Hello Daddy Kuti,
its been 2 days since you left
    this world of sickness
    to one of perfect health.
Really, I had hoped that one day,
I would see you face to face,
to ask if you remembered me,
at least, I could say THANK YOU!!!
But now that God has said No!
    for you're on your way
to a better place than here.
    So Daddy Kuti, Farewell
Farewell on your journey of peace.

    My Mom has always said
    that "You were my doctor",
    for t'was 25 years ago,
when she brought you her little boy,
sick with only God knew what.
    She had run helter-skelter,
    from doctor to doctor,
    from one hospital to another
    but all to no avail.
    The doctors had all surrendered
for "they couldn't understand the problem",
    - it was really a special case.
Finally, she was referred to you,
and you met her with a smile
    as she came running in,
    offering her all your know-how,
all the help that you could.
    I thank God,
for it was Him who healed me
and indeed, it was a miracle.
But because He did it through you,
Daddy Kuti, I say thank you.

I had wanted to become a doctor too,
in fact, mommy said that I should
so I could go and look for my files
and find "what exactly the problem was",
    perhaps I could understand
perhaps I would find a solution
to help someone else in need.
    One thing I believe -
is not going around finding problems
    especially for which God Almighty
    has provided miraculous solutions.
He surely had other plans for me
It was God who healed me
and He did it through you
    so the problem is solved.

    Today, by His Awesome grace,
    I'm an Engineer, hoping someday
to be a doctor in its Philosophy
    - at least, I would be a doctor
    just like you.

    Thank you, Daddy Kuti,
for the attention you gave me,
while others gave up on hope.
    Thanks for the many lives
    you have touched.
    You have done much,
    more than enough.
    For living your life
    for Nigeria and its health,

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
    Farewell, my Beloved Doctor,
    Farewell, my Daddy Kuti.
    Farewell!!!!

    Lots of Love,
    John
