    Different Levels

Submitted By: John "The Beloved" Ajewole

Have you heard this statement before: Holier than thou?
If not, maybe I can hear you saying What now?
T'was said by the Pharisees of old, in the Holy Bible told
They lived their life always in the two-fold.

"At a higher level" is a present day interpretation
Like when we compare: one and another nation.
When you never want to descend to a lower level
Where a subordinate lives, in his own small castle.

Do you wonder what it means if an elder so berates his younger
Men of the same blood, who ate the same bread and butter.
Brought up by the same parents to be the best of friends,
Suddenly, there was a rapid bend.

A bend to regard oneself and disregard the other
    Worse than the rich man and Lazarus the beggar;
When no one has better ideas than you do
When in your ears, mere suggestions becomes a taboo.

When you now have all there is to offer
Never having eyes to see the 'my own blunder'
With a talent to know what is in another's mind
With the thought 'I have left them all behind'

Becoming a little Napoleon - who's always right
A more equal human than others, a stolen birthright
Blinded eyes thinking that they see
When you'll fall, it'll be your own cup of tea.

Beware so that you don't step on a human head
In your word and or deed, as you push your arrowhead,
Beware that you don't hurry to climb the wrong ladder
And forget earth's soil - your alma mater.

Beware so that you don't know it all
Beware - pride goes before a fall
Beware unless you'll become the man
At a higher level - where for all things, you can.
