    I Thought.....

Submitted By: John "The Beloved" Ajewole

    Hand in hand,
They had walked down the aisle.
    Hand in hand,
They had been pronounced man and wife.
    Hand in hand,
They had walked out of the church.
    Hand in hand,
    To Hawaii for a honeymoon.

    She still looked so beautiful
Just as the way she had always been
He remembered that gown she wore
He gave her on their first anniversary

Three long years of work in Canada
She might have forgotten him, her cutie pie
Hearing that her flight had arrived,
He planned to give her a BIG surprise

Tapping her on the shoulder in the lounge,
He planted a long wet kiss on those soft lips
    "uuhmm uuhmm uuhmm" he signed
Before a blow landed on his head

Two weeks later, hands cuffed in court,
The judgement, six months in prison
When asked if he had anything to say,
"I thought she was my wife" he said.
