Kingsley Momoh ...in his own words
Kingsley Momoh, kcmomoh-That's me. I am from Etsako in Edo State. I'm young, fit, thinking and writing with God who implanted this much in me as my Guardian.
Here lies what came about due to so many instances I've seen or noticed, thought about or just decided to write on.
Writing is a veritable tool in the fight against the ills of society which includes racism, drug abuse, abuse of power, child abuse, poor education etc but television and newspaper have not given poetry the best utilization.
I remember writing my first poem when I was 10 and encouragement came no way due to the fact that in Africa, such was not recognized as a talent or a skill to be developed in a young boy.
I remember doing a journal back then in school in the early 90's amongst classmates at the Baptist Academy Obanikoro and nobody saw it. And I did continue doing it from year One through year Five until a teacher saw a copy. He felt slighted by one of the stories (I wrote about his accent disturbed English) and he sentenced me to purchasing of 15 bottles of Maltina for his drinking Pleasure! Poor me.
Although, that one event discouraged me from further publication throughout the remaining year of the my secondary schooling, I continued writing short stories and poems for my personal amusement and pleasure only.
Now, whenever I remember that day, I wish that that Teacher had discovered and tailored me to my full potential then. Maybe, just maybe, I would have been a laureate already!
However, I stand on the belief of one of my poems that goes thus:
after the rainfall, sun go shine and when light he come, darkness
go run"
NigeriaExchange through this medium has opened a door for poets to do their stuff, see their stuff and know their stuff and finally, develop their stuff.
Hmh........
I hope you enjoy my work.
