    Adaku
    Submitted By: Nkiru Njoku

My innocent one whose beauty is
    resplendent as the sun's.
    My beautiful Queen Adaku,
    Goddess of my soul.
Smooth, black skin fine like Shea-butter.
Bright, soulful eyes that dazzle me with a single look.
Soft, full lips whose kisses I ache after.

    My innocent Adaku.
Teeth whiter than grains of foreign rice.
Teeth, whose bite upon my back I long to feel.
My Adaku with her long graceful neck
    like that of the Ostrich.
Square shoulders upon which I would give
an eye to lay my head.

    Adaku, my innocent one...
With breasts jutting out like the peaks
    of two glorious mountains.
Her stomach; hard and flat like the
arid soils of a desolate land.
Her backside potrudes in such elegant roundness,
Causing pain to spread through my loins.

Adaku with her long, straight legs like the
    trunk of the poplar tree.
Legs, the junction of which no man has ever crossed.
    Beauty and innocence personified;
    My sweet Adaku.
Ah, how I will school her...
Teach her to know the love of a man,
Teach her illeterate body the pleasures of copulation...

    My innocent Adaku.
I go to see her even this moment.
My Adaku..she whose presence lightens up
the dull sky of my existence.
As I approach her doorstep, my heart leaps for joy.
Even her small hut stands like a glorious mansion!
My Adaku lends her splendour even  to lifeless things.
My groin reverberates with pleasurable pain,

    As I envision my Adaku in her innocent glory;
With her arms widespread to welcome me.
But I will wait for my innocent one.
When it is time , I will lay her on my bed as
    I make her my bride,
And her sweet innocence will turn my white
    sheets crimson.
I will wait for my innocent Adaku.
Oh..our hearts are even now working in sync...
For before I knock she opens her door.

My beautiful Adaku opens her door to let me in...
But out steps another ruddier than I!
Rumpled clothes, giant strides like a hero from the front.
I make to ruffle him but with trepidation I
    look for my Adaku.
And there she is lying spent on her straw mattress,
    Skin glistening with sweat,
    Limbs weak and shaky...
A satisfied smile playing on her lips,
Like one just awakening from a pleasant dream.

I've been waiting for my Adaku,
But she's been 'knowing' so much all this time.
I thought I would teach her ignorant heart,
I thought I would coach her inexperienced body,
But maybe it is I who need to be schooled.
    Ah... my innocent Adaku.
