    A Bleeding Country

    Submitted By: Obaro Unukogbon

    Trespassers rent the day
    and steal the night
    all who free their minds
    stop their tongues
    in fear of assassins
    who prowl the shadows.
    None is safe
    and home a cage
    that devours the prey,
    so fell Ige
    the veritable luminary
    and Saro-wiwa
    the bastion of liberation.
    Yet the dance tempo
    is daily appreciated
    while politicians make promises
    that are patiently delivered
    by the echelons of violence.
    What bear the morrow ?
    all but sorrow
    for those blind to
    a bleeding country.
