Hiding in Maryland

Getting to Mariere, I saw the whole crew waiting by a Peugeot 504.
"What took you so long?" Sunday asked.
"Don't mind honey, I went looking for her and guess where I found her"?
In front of Sodeinde with Mighty, Ugo, Ewa and Co"
"Ehn? What were you doing there?" Tayo asked obviously concerned
"I wasn't playing now. I was looking for Seyi, I heard that a guy was shot dead in front of the hall"
"It doesn't matter. Don't ever try that shit again. What if you had been shot?" Seyi interjected.
"But, I thought I cared now"
"Leave the girl alone, she is in love"
"Don't support her jo. What she did was wrong" Seyi said
"Hen."
"Hey! No squabbling yet, we have to get out of here" Sunday said.
"Where are we going?" I asked as we headed towards second gate.
"We are going to your hall. Pack enough clothes for five days and come back down to meet us." Seyi said.
"Don't forget my wife oh. She is coming too." Chinma said
"Exactly, where are we going? Otokoto is in town" {Otokoto was the man caught some few years back for using people as rituals to get money}.
"Fret not my darling daughter. It is but a little pain and you will have to go to the world beyond to bring money back for us".
Everybody bust into laughter.
"You are sick," I said.
"The school is a dangerous territory right now, so we are going to stay in Sunday's house at Maryland" Seyi said
"Won't it be preferable if I go home?"
"Yes, but I want you to stay with me for some time" he said.
We parked in front of the newest hall. Some people were already packed to go home. The front of the hall looked chaotic.
I entered the room to see everybody looking down and Bisola was looking worried.
"I was so scared, especially after hearing what was going on in New hall. Anyway, where have you been?"
I told her as much as I could without wasting time. We both packed up, although she said she'll be going home the next day because of her parents they will be worried about her. Angel too packed her things.
Getting to Maryland was fun, the car was overloaded and jokes were cracked along that line.
Sunday's house is situated at Sonibare Estate. This is a popular area where the "rich and famous" in Lagos society stay.
His house is a duplex, and was surrounded by a lovely garden.
"Who cleans the garden, definitely not you" I said
"Ki lo nse baby yi?" [meaning - What is wrong with this silly babe?]
"I of course" Sunday said
"Sunday won't your parents mind that, you are bringing a crowd to their house?" Bisola asked
"My parents reside in Warri, they moved about a year ago. And they left the house for the children"
"How many children?" She inquired again
"There are four of us and I am the eldest. The one after me is a girl, she's at UI She doesn't like coming home, although she comes to Lagos quite often. I have jammed her before.
The third is at Federal Govt. College Warri and the last is with my parents"
"Where does the second born stay when she comes to Lagos" I asked
"With her boyfriend most probably. The day I catch her, she is finished"
"What is your own inside? Your girlfriend doesn't stay over or am I not staying over with Seyi? How old is she anyway?"
"She is 26"
Everybody burst into laughter at Sunday's silliness about his sister's movements
"Now we know you are not serious, I concluded".
He locked the gate after we drove in. The place was too big for two people to be staying.
"Why didn't they rent it out?" I asked myself. After getting down from the car, we all stretched our legs.
"Honey, you are too heavy, go and lose weight jo" Seyi informed me.
"It is not your fault. It is me that allowed you to carry me that is guilty" I hissed in return while everybody laughed.
Sunday opened the door and we all entered. We ladies empty handed because the guys carried the carrier bags with our stuff.
